THE
PERFORMANCE PLACE :: Class & Studio Policy
Tuition
- Tuition is due at the first lesson of each month. Payments are expected to be on time and are considered late as of the 10th of each month, at which time a late fee of ten dollars ($10) will be assessed
- Tuition may be paid by check or online (as of October 1st), using PayPal.
- Tuition remains the same whether the month contains five weeks, or three weeks, regardless of holidays or absences. Its calculation is based on the studio’s ten month season.
- Please make checks payable to The Performance Place. All cash payments must be made at the desk. Please put student’s name on each check.
- Discounts are also available if tuition for the year is paid in full by September 30th. The discount will be 10% off of the total tuition.
- If your account is delinquent, the above late fees will be assessed. A consistently delinquent account may result in a suspension of a student’s participation in classes. All fees and costume money must be current in order for a student to partake in the studio recital. If you are having financial difficulties, please contact the office.
- Tuition does not include the cost of shoes, dancewear, costumes, or recital tickets. These items will be an additional cost to the parents.
Mid-Month Start Policy
Students who join class mid-month will pay a pro-rated tuition. It may be advisable for the student to come in for extra help to catch up with the rest of the class in order to participate in the year end recital. While there can be exceptions, generally we will not accept new students for showcase participation after March 1, 2007.
Attendance, Tardiness, and After Class
Attendance is very important for a student to have a meaningful experience in any school endeavor. Absences and tardiness can be very disruptive as it may hold back not only the student but the whole class. Additionally, by being late and missing warm-ups, a student becomes more prone to injury. At TPP we like our students to be ready for class a minimum of five minutes prior to the scheduled class time. If a student misses too many lessons, he or she may be held out of the studio showcase events until deemed ready by their instructors.
Classes missed due to injury or illness may only be made up at the discretion of the instructor. If a child is injured or not feeling well enough to dance, they are encouraged to watch class, as much can still be learned.
After class, parents must be present to pick up their child. Our staff cannot guarantee a child’s supervision, so if a parent is running late, they must call the studio. Both your child and the instructors will appreciate it. Under no circumstances can a child, even if they are a student, be left unaccompanied in the studio lobby. Again, the staff at The Performance Place cannot guarantee that we can watch a child during business hours. If you have a scheduling issue or need our assistance, you must clear it with both the teacher and office.
Lobby and Studio Etiquette
Please observe proper studio etiquette at all times. The lobby area should be kept clean and orderly, and noise must be kept to a minimum. Please do not let children run or play in the entry. Reading and quiet games are appropriate.
Eating is allowed only in the seating area and only water is allowed in the studios. Dance students should bring a water bottle along with their dance bags into the studio.
Weather Cancellations
The Performance Place will follow the Peninsula School District closures. Please call the studio for closure updates, as it will be noted on the message machine. There will be no refunds due to weather cancellations.
Class Observation
It is better for the students’ concentration and learning to have scheduled “observation weeks”. Please see the schedule and mark these weeks on you calendar. It will be appreciated if you arrange childcare for very young siblings.
Photo Release
The Performance Place is hereby granted permission to take photographs and/or videos of the students for use in brochures, advertisements, websites, and other TPP promotional materials. Such photos/videos may also be copyrighted by TPP, and used for broadcast by the press and their agents.
Injuries
Enrolled parent/student indemnifies and hold harmless The Performance Place and all its agents and, or staff from any liability whatsoever for any damages or injuries, and from any and all claims and demands, including attorney fees, arising out of the party’s participation in lessons, performances or any other activity conducted by The Performance Places before, during, or after the activity time.
